Creating a baby nursery centered around a single element is a thrilling adventure that comes with its own set of challenges. Whether it's a treasured family heirloom or a beloved piece that sparks your imagination, we've got some handy tips to help you craft a harmonious and enchanting nursery space.
Choosing Your Inspiration
Whether it's a vintage rocking chair, a sentimental photograph, or a unique piece of furniture, this focal point will be the driving force behind your design choices. Let your imagination run wild as you create a space that reflects your personal style and tells your story. With endless possibilities, the only limit is your own inspiration! For this blog post, we're going to start with our Tiger Lily Painted Wooden Letters, which hang on the wall and spell your child's name.
Create a design board, similar to the one shown below. For this design board, we started with our focal point: Tiger Lily Painted Wood Wall Letters, which feature muted orange and turquoise painted lilies, alternating with blue-grey and polka dot letters that spell baby's name. Each lily has various dots and speckles within the petals. Since this is the centerpiece of the entire design, we built upon those colors and patterns. You'll see that we went with a natural wood dresser to compliment the muted orange, two possible baby bedding options for complimenting the polka dots, speckles and color scheme and finally, a gorgeous tiger lily mural for the opposite wall. We also incorporated several rustic wood storage containers as well as a lighter aqua vase.
Choosing A Color Scheme
Create a harmonious color palette inspired by your focal point. Start with one main color from the piece and add one or two accent colors to complete the look. Focus on color harmony across the space.
Instead of incorporating every color from the item, choose a combination that works well together. For example, if a chair you're using as a focal point has turquoise and muted orange embroidery, opt for turquoise as the main color and orange as an accent color. This will create harmony throughout the room.
Create a cohesive look in your baby's room by incorporating similar patterns and textures throughout the space, tying everything together for a harmonious and stylish nursery. For instance, if the embroidery features vines and floral accents, tie similar patterns in throughout the rest of the room.
Build the Theme Around Your Inspiration Piece
Arrange the room around your inspirational piece so that your focal point is still the star of the entire theme. Maintain a cohesive and stylish nursery theme that matches with your inspiration piece. If your inspiration piece gives off a vintage vibe, make sure your other items harmonize with that item and maintain that aesthetic throughout.
Enhance the overall look of the nursery room space with versatile accessories. Whether it's throw pillows, artwork, or light fixtures, these little details can bring everything together.
Design with Love & Creativity
Designing a nursery is all about love and inspiration. Let your creativity flow and create a space that showcases your unique style and the love you have for your little bundle of joy.
